QUESTION 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why
Question 2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In our video the social group that we are representing is age. We show a young man walking around being very thoughtful which challenges the stereotype because young people are thought to be very loud and not caring about life. We have represented them in quite a positive way because we havent shown a young person being care free or non caring, but instead we have shown them being thoughtful and caring.
Q5. How did you attract/address you audience?
Our film name is 'Delirious' which has a few meanings. This makes it sound more interesting for people who hear the film name, they will wonder what it is actually about but will have a good sense of what they could find in the film. The name will attract both our primary and secondary audience because it makes you wonder what will happen. The name went well with our film beacuse or storyline is about a young boy who becomes delirious from the behavious of his father and other upsetting events in his life. The storyline goes well with our subgenre becuase of the behaviour of our main character. You will also have to pay attention and focus on the film. The storyline is quite interesting as well beacuse the film includes murder it brings in that thriller feel to the film. I feel our primary audience will enjoy the storyline becuase there isn't a lot of violence and horrific murder scene. Also, it plays with the audiences emotions very well and makes you feel the way the main character feels which i think older women would find interesting. The main characters is the young boy and father. They are interesting because the audience get put in the postion of the young boy which our audience (older women) wouldn't have been before. Having the father also shows how much of an affect fathers can be to their children. The location is set in London. Our canal location is a nice peaceful place. Our genre and sub genre will attract our audience very well because it makes them think and focus on the film.
The rough cut feedback helped us very well especially because they were from our teachers and out traget audience are adults rather than teenagers. It helped us understand what they liked and disliked about it. We were told to take out a few shots that weren't needed and didn't go well.
We reached our audience so far by screening it at the cinema. It was also uploaded to youtube and shared around. There is a DVD release which should appeal to our audience because we have been told that many women like to cosy nights in watching a good DVD.

Q4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
Ou primary target audience is females 25-35 who will be interested in psychological thrillers and would enjoy thinking about the film whilst watching it. Our secondary audience would be a younger audience 16-24. Young adults go cinemas more than older people. Also many young people would enjoy a psychological thriller. I'm 17 and i know i would enjoy becuase i enjoy many othe psychological thrillers. Also we have a young actor in it which may want young adults to go and watch it. This willl also be interesting for our primary target audience beacuse they get to see the film in the eye's of our main character which they may find very interesting. Our film is very interesting because it goes through our main characters life the way he percieves it. Although he becomes mentally unwell the audience will develop feelings and emotions the way he does.
QUESTION 4
who would be the audience for your media product?
Question 5. How did you attract/address your audience?
Our opening is based in a canal which can be classed as a really empty area.
The film name is called Delirious which means Hysterical, uncontrolled. This can be good to attract a good audience.
Our opening is discreet which can be really good because it keeps our viewer guessing because we dont give away a lot in our opening. We havent got a lot of acting in our opening because if we had more it would really be classed as a narrative so we kept the acting simple. The pace is really slow with a piano in the background which keeps the video down beat. We have our opening released on vimeo and we have had a cinematic release and will have it released on 250 DVD's. Our rough cut helped us to improve our opening because we had really helpful feedback which helped clean up our opening and fix any problems.

QUESTION 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, hat do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Final Cut Pro
We all had at least a few try's each on final cut pro from our prelim, which means we all ruffly know how to edit and add in effects etc. We also know loads of the shortcuts and how to download the film onto blogger by exporting and changing the format of the opening so that it can be uploaded to blogger.
Soundtrack Pro
Soundtrack Pro was a good program that we also all had a go with to get all sorts of natural sounds and even foley sounds. This software allowed us to give a nice atmosphere to our film opening also it allowed us to put a lot of effects on the sounds and had a very wide variety of sounds.
Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I did this question on powerpoint but had to transfer each slide to beeclip as the file was too big to upload as a presentation.

Editing rough cut feedback
After Rebecca looked at our blog she gave us some feedback.
- She told us to tighten up our clips, getting rid of parts that are not needed.
- The shot with Solomon coming outside of the bridge needs to be longer.
- Make the clip of the bench plaque shorter.
- Move our tunnel short to a more suitable place.
- With the spinning shot of Solomon on the bench, we have to make jumo cuts and change the direction so it reverses.
Overall our rough cut doesn't have sound yet and at the beginning we still need to include our production company logo's.

second day of filming
Solomon had to cross over the bridge to get to the other side so we can get the shots of him on the stairs. |
We got the shot of him on the stairs. we thought it looked really good because you can see the rush of the water behind him giving it a freaky feeling. Also he's quite close to the water. |
Luckily the weather was nice so we got to film. |
Filming the 'In memory of Elizabeth Kirby' footage. it was annoying because the footage seemed bent even thought our tripod was fine. |
This is the shot going around Solomon. We had to do it by hand and it was difficult because none of us had steady hands. |
first day filming
For our first day of filming we went to the canal. We played around with the camera and got use to filming with it. we got a few good shots that will be used in our final edit of our opening to our film.

Pitch: Evidence
We were first to show our pitch to the class. |
Going through the brief about what our film is about. |
Going through everything including our genre and inspiration. |
'Props and costumes' |
Going through our storyboard. We got told we had to make the images more clearer for example our close up shots drawing didn't really look like close ups. |
Planning: Audience detail
Our target audience for our movie are 25-40 year old mainly males. they would have to be educated because our film will need concentration throughout. The film also gives out little bits of information slowly which could be hard to understand. They will be interested in psychological thrillers as well.
Our secondary audience would be young adults 16-24 (which is the age range that go cinema often). This would be suitable to them because our film certificate is a 15. The movie could still interest young adults because it interests our group who are aged 16 and 17.

Planning: skills audit to date
•We have learnt how to use the camera’s and how to attach and detach it from the tri-pod. We also learnt hw to put in the memory cards.
•We learnt many different shots such as over the shoulder shot, extreme close up.
•We learnt how to edit clips on final cut pro, such as cutting a scene, video transitions, slide transitions. How to add effects like slowing or speeding up a scene. We learnt how to add sepia to a scene.
•We learnt how to import and export our edits.
• we learnt how to use soundtrack pro and how to add different sounds. Plus how to then put it back onto final cut pro.
•From blogging we learnt how to make an animatic.
Planning: Risk Assessment
We will be filming some shots next to a canal so we would need to be carful and not go close to the edge
Set up the camera and tripod correctly to ensure that nothing will fall and also remember the camera fixes on by sliding from the back to the front of the tripod
Don’t leave the equipment alone when where filming outside
Don't travel with the equipment by yourself (safety in numbers)
Avoid filming in the rain. If this is necessary then take a camera umbrella from college
DO NOT change the menu settings on the camera otherwise the files may not be compatible with final cut pro on the macs and this means you will have to re-film

Planning: preliminary ideas of sound
For our opening we plan to use a low beat track, drum instruments.
We also plan to use eerie sound effects from soundtrack pro because we have a discrete opening therefore we only need a singular sound track.
planning: mis en scene
•Stuffed creepy looking doll
•Rosemary beads
•Scrap book
•Old chair
•Son: Vest or T-shirt (white and stained), ripped chinos, old shoes
plannning: genre and subgenre
The subgenre we have chosen is psychological thriller.
We have been inspired by the openings and / or storylines of Memento, Seven, Number 23, Law Abiding Citizen.
Planning: title of movie
We have chosen this as our title because it relates to the type of phycological thriller opening we are doing. As you can see delirious means 'mentally imbalanced' this adjective perfectly describes the father in this opening.

Final Idea for our Film and the Opening
Our film is about a man who was a serial killer and always hung his victims. To hint at this he leaves behind a creepy looking stuffed doll hanging off of something by rosemary beads. The film is all about his life and the killing events. The son was put into foster care when his mother was murdered and he didn’t know who his dad was. The murder of his mother is what sent his father crazy. In the end the son figures out his fathers identity and soon after the father gets caught. His son is so affected by the past years that he becomes mental and carries on his fathers ways.
The title sequence will hint what happens at the end of the film. It will be a discrete title sequence will elements of a narrative. We will see the son sitting in a remote place on a chair. We will also see the doll and the rosemary beads and someone that has been hung. We will also include the fathers scrapbook he keeps of all the killings and notes he has made. The title sequence will use quite a lot of special effects and video transitions.
